Sprintray Apex Teeth
The rise of 3D printing in dentistry has resulted in a resurgence of sorts in the field of removable dentures. To capitalise on this Sprintray has formulated its own printed denture teeth resin – Apex Teeth.
I really like Apex Flex as it is so easy to print and post-process. It’s also amazingly aesthetic and translucent, making it a nice alternative option for smile try-ins/mock ups which would have usually been the job of a material like OnX Tough 2.

Uses:
Printing of denture teeth and provisional restorations
Where can you print it:
Sprintray Pro2, Pro55S, Pro95S

The low down:
Apex Teeth, like many denture tooth resins, has low filler content and possesses high polishability. Because of its lower ceramic content it is easy to wash in traditional automated wash units. It washes very well in the Sprintray ProWash S. It features outstanding innate translucency – simply put, it’s a very beautiful resin naturally. I often don’t even need to characterise denture teeth printed out of Apex Teeth as it is stunning just polished well. Like other Sprintray restorative resins, I’ve generally found it more stain-resistant compared to other similar products on the market – a huge plus in the anterior zone.

Points to note:
This resin is paired best with Apex Base or Apex Flex, particularly when using a Duo Kit. While pricey, the Duo Kit is one of my favourite Pro2 accessories and it is hooked up permanently on mine. Apex Teeth will polish with standard composite and PMMA polishing systems. It is radioopaque but not exceedingly so you could potentially use it as a radiographic marker as well. I do wish it came in more shades. Currently Crown HT only comes in shades A1, A2, B2 and Bleach. Ideally be cured in a Nanocure but can be cured in a ProCure 2. Because of its natural translucency, I have used it for smile try-ins/mock ups for a number of reasons – first it’s bloody easy to clean compared to other alternatives which require manual washing only. Secondly it polishes up nicely and naturally aesthetic. However, do keep in mind that the translucency can be a pitfall in this situation, as the definitive restorations may appear substantially different to your Apex Teeth try-in.

TLDR:
Apex Teeth is a highly translucent and easy to process resin for printed denture teeth. For maximum efficiency, it is best paired with Apex Base or Apex Flex using a Duo Kit on the Pro2.
